ITINERARY

Day 01

Start your day with a picturesque drive from Manali. The road winds up through pine and deodar forests to the village of Gulaba. From the Gulaba check post, you'll undertake a very short, easy ascent to reach the established campsite on the beautiful Gulaba meadows. This day is essential for acclimatisation before the significant altitude gain on day two.

Distance: 21 km Time: 1-2 hours          Trek Time: Approx. 20 minutes (500 m)          3200 Metres (Gulaba meadows campsite)

Day 02

This is your first major day of trekking, involving a steep, steady climb. The trail initially winds through dense forests before opening up to large, sweeping alpine meadows. You will gain approximately 600 metres in altitude today. Rola Kholi is situated in a high clearing and offers stunning views, serving as the base camp for the Bhrigu lake summit attempt.

Distance: 4 km Time: 6 hours          3800 Metres (Rola Kholi campsite)

Day 03

An early start is crucial as you head towards Bhrigu lake. The climb is continuous and becomes quite steep as you approach the final ridge. Bhrigu lake is a small, sacred, high-altitude body of water, often frozen or dotted with ice even in the summer. Spend some time at the lake enjoying the solitude and the views before retracing your steps carefully back down to the Rola Kholi base camp. This is the toughest day due to distance and altitude.

Distance: 10 km Time: 8 hours          4200 Metres (Bhrigu lake)

Day 04

Begin your descent today. The walk from Rola Kholi back down to Gulaba is significantly faster and easier than the ascent, offering plenty of time to enjoy the views as you pass through the beautiful meadows again. Upon reaching Gulaba, board your vehicle for the scenic drive back to Manali.

Distance: 21 km Time: 1-2 hours          Trek Time: 3 hours (6–7 km)
