ITINERARY
Day 01
Arrive in Leh, where the bright summer sun and clear blue skies welcome you. The air is thin but warm during the day. Spend the day resting at your hotel to acclimatize to the altitude. It is essential to stay hydrated and avoid overexertion to prevent AMS (acute mountain sickness).
Day 02
After a relaxed breakfast, head out to explore the iconic Thiksey monastery, often called the "Mini Potala," and Shey palace. In summer, the surrounding fields are a bright emerald green. This light sightseeing helps your body adjust to the altitude while providing deep insight into Ladakhi Buddhist heritage. Rest early to prepare for the trekking days ahead.
Day 03
Drive to the village of Rumbak, the gateway to Hemis National Park. The landscape transitions from the arid outskirts of Leh to the surprisingly green valleys of the park. Rumbak is a picturesque hamlet where you can spot blue sheep (bharal) grazing on the high slopes and marmots popping out of their burrows. Overnight in a local homestay to experience traditional Ladakhi hospitality.
Day 04
This is the most challenging and rewarding day of your trek. You will begin an early ascent to cross the Stok La pass at 4850 metres . In summer, the trail is clear of heavy snow, though the climb remains steep. The summit offers a spectacular panoramic view of the towering Stok Kangri peak (6153m). After a short break at the pass, descend through a dramatic landscape of multicolored rock formations to your campsite on the other side.
Day 05
Trek down towards Stok village, passing through summer pastures used by local herders. You’ll reach the village by afternoon to enjoy the comforts of a cozy homestay. Spend your evening walking through the village lanes, visiting the local palace museum, or walking up to the hilltop monastery for a sunset view over the Indus valley.
Day 06
After a relaxed breakfast, drive back to Leh. In the evening, visit the Shanti Stupa for a panoramic view of the town illuminated under the twilight sky.
Day 07
A leisure day to soak in the summer vibe of Leh. Walk through the old town, visit the Central Asian Museum, and enjoy the thriving cafe culture. This is also the perfect time for souvenir shopping at the market before your journey ends.
Day 08
After a final Himalayan breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight home, carrying memories of the high passes and vistas of Ladakh.
