The Phyang to Hunder Trek is one of lesser treaded but pristine high-altitude routes, offering a rare crossing from the Indus valley into the heart of the Nubra valley. Following an ancient branch of the silk route, this Trek challenges trekkers with the ascent of the majestic Lasermo La Pass at 5450 metres, a vantage point that reveals the dramatic contrast between the jagged Karakoram peaks and the vast, golden dunes of Hunder.

ITINERARY
Day 01
Upon your arrival at Leh airport, you will be transferred to your hotel. The first day is strictly for resting to allow your body to adjust to the high altitude.
Day 02
Today is dedicated to light exploration and further acclimatisation. You will visit the historic Leh Palace and the Shanti Stupa, which offers a panoramic view of the entire Indus valley and the surrounding peaks. These short walks help your lungs adapt to the thin air while you soak in the rich Buddhist culture of Ladakh. The rest of the day is spent preparing for the upcoming trek.
Day 03
Your trekking journey begins with a short drive to the Phyang Monastery. After a brief visit, the trek starts with a gentle uphill walk through scenic valleys. The trail ascends gradually through rugged terrain to reach Phyang Phu, a vast grazing area used by local villagers. You will settle into your first high-altitude camp under the vast Ladakhi sky here.
Day 04
After breakfast, you continue a steady ascent toward the base of the Lasermo La. The trail winds through lush alpine meadows, providing excellent views of the Stok Range. The terrain becomes drier and more dramatic as you approach the South Base Camp, a serene location surrounded by towering peaks.
Day 05
This is the most demanding day, requiring an early start to cross the glacier safely. You will navigate rocky moraines and snow as you conquer the Lasermo La Pass at 5450 metres . At the summit, you are rewarded with 360-degree vistas of the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges. The descent leads to the North Base Camp, tucked away in high pastures.
Day 06
Today features a rewarding descent into the lush fringes of the Nubra valley. You follow the Hunder stream through meadows filled with high-altitude flowers. You will pass traditional shepherd huts and grazing yaks. The day ends at the charming village of Hunder Dok, offering a look into authentic mountain life.
Day 07
The final trekking day takes you through the stunning Hunder gorge. As the valley opens up, you get views of the massive Saser Kangri peak. You descend to the Hunder sand dunes, where you can see the famous double-humped Bactrian camels. Tonight, you will stay in a comfortable camp or hotel in Hunder village.
Day 08
After the trek, today is for relaxation. You will visit the Diskit Monastery, which houses a 32-meter tall statue of Maitreya Buddha overlooking the Shyok River. Overnight in Hunder.
