ITINERARY
Day 01
Your journey begins with a scenic long drive from Kathgodam. The road winds through the fragrant pine forests of Almora and the rolling tea gardens of Kausani, eventually climbing deep into the heart of the mountains where the road ends and the ancient village of Wan begins. It is a small, bustling mountain village that serves as the gateway to the trek, offering beautiful sunset views over the valley.
Day 02
The trek kicks off with a gradual descent through forests toward the village of Kulling, followed by a steep climb toward Didna. In summer, the trail is lined with greenery and local mountain flowers. You will stay in a traditional Garhwali homestay or campsite at Didna, a quaint shepherd village perched on a mountain slope.
Day 03
Today involves a steep ascent through a thick forest of oak and rhododendron. The reward at the end of the climb is one of the most iconic moments in Himalayan trekking: the forest abruptly ends, and you emerge onto the massive, rolling meadows of Ali bugyal. In summer, the meadow is a deep, vibrant green, stretching as far as the eye can see.
Day 04
A relatively easy but incredibly beautiful day as you walk along the ridge connecting the two meadows. You will visit Bedni Top for a 360-degree view of the Greater Himalayas before descending to the sacred Bedni kund. In summer, the reflection of Mount Trishul in the clear waters of the lake is a sight to behold.
Day 05
The return journey is a long descent through a majestic forest of ancient trees known as the "Ghairoli Patal." The trail is steep but well-paved, leading you down to the suspension bridge at Neel Ganga. After a final short climb to Wan village, a vehicle will pick you up for the short drive back to Lohajung to celebrate your successful trek.
Day 06
After an early breakfast, you will retrace your route back to the plains. The drive offers a final chance to admire the mountain vistas before arriving back in Kathgodam by late evening, where your Himalayan adventure concludes.
