If You’re Always Carrying the Load, Come Learn How to Pack Light

We are practiced carriers. We shoulder teams, timelines, families, inboxes, and the quiet ache of what next. We become so adept at holding everything together that the weight turns invisible, until a mountain shows us how heavy we’ve become.

The outdoors proposes a different arithmetic: subtract to move. Every unnecessary layer of gear, of worry, of relentless expectation, makes the ascent harder than it needs to be. On the trail, travelling light isn’t bravado; it’s wisdom. You keep what matters, and you let the rest fall away. Out here, strength is not how much you can carry, but how discerningly you choose.

That is the Snowfox invitation: step outside, set some weight down, & remember what ease feels like.

From the Trail: Himmat & Jugnu

Himmat is an entrepreneur and a dog lover who travelled with Jugnu, his Labrador, extensively in the Garhwal Himalaya. It is his belief that pet holidays must always be ‘for’ your pet, and not ‘with’ your pet. The difference? In the former, your pet just accompanies you on your holiday, whereas in the latter, the entire holiday is planned based on your pooch’s preferences.

And so it was whenever they went on holidays together. Jugnu, being a poor traveller, road trips were planned in a way that they broke journey for the night after every six hours at the most. Accommodation selected was always on the ground floor, with open spaces outside so that Jugnu could roam around freely, something which city life did not allow him easily. The holiday destinations chosen were always those which had walks and treks easily available, with limited Indies around, who can be possessive about their territory.

The days were spent based on Jugnu’s timetable, preferences, and sleep schedule. It could mean a very early morning walk when he was up, but the sun wasn’t, or simply sitting by a water body late in the evening, the silence broken only by the chirping of birds, and both of them lost in what seemed to be a common world with man, dog and mountain.
